An exercise in flexibility . . .

OK, so we're still in San Diego!  When we were camped over on the Silver Strand, we decided it would be nice to have some work done on the RV to beef up the electrical power system - we didn't have enough juice to run the espresso machine!  So . . . we came to an RV service center, thinking it would only take a day and then we could get moving east.  Well, it didn't happen quite like that!  While initially extremely frustrated by the delay, we soon came to see it as the perfect excuse to stay in San Diego for a while where there is tons to see and do - and the weather could not be better.

Anyway, here are a few pics of the past week:
My "collection" from early a.m. walk on the beach.

Monday - Scooted up the Strand to Coronado Island.  That Hotel del Coronado is something else!
Just arrived at Hotel del Coronado!
Enjoying a cocktail on the hotel patio, we had company.
This pic makes our hotel visit official!
From the hotel, we scooted over to the Landing for a ferry ride to San Diego.
.How about that San Diego skyline!!
Are we happy campers????
We walked over for a close-up look of the Midway.  Awesome!
Back at camp on Silver Strand just in time for sunset . . .

Next day - took the truck and explored Point Loma.  We discovered beautiful Cabrillo National Monument down on the tip.  Visibility from the top was an unbelievable 150 miles today!  We could actually see the snow covered San Bernadino Mountains up by LA!
view from the top
From the top of Cabrillo overlooking it all!
We actually saw some grey whales out there!
Another day, Harold discovered the best kept secret around - Sweetwater Regional Park. We took our bicycles out there, had a picnic lunch and a nice little ride.  It was good for all of us (Trixie, too!) to get a little exercise.  Then on Friday we took Trixie to a highly recommended doggie B&B for a few days.  Ah-haaa . . . now we can do even more fun stuff!

Yesterday we spent the entire day at the fabulous San Diego Zoo - in fact, we camped last night in the zoo parking lot and are still there now as I work on this blog!  (Weird, I know - but we just love free parking!)  I'm listening right now to elephant trumpeting . . . which seems pretty cool!!    I'll probably put a few zoo pictures on later - right now I have to get going because we're headed back over to Cabrillo Natl. Monument for  the whale watching festival!!

So, yes, we've been here a week now and can't say for sure when we'll be moving on!  Flexibility has its rewards!!   More later . . .
